The following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Betty Burton of Lowell:
Friday evening was a scene [of] enjoyment at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Love, the event being a pleasant surprise on their daughter Bessie by her friends. "Flinch" and "Pit" were the games most indulged in. After refreshments were served, the crowd departed declaring they had spent an enjoyable evening. Those present were Misses Ruby Lynch, Ethel Davis, Mary Thompson, Olive Bates, Ruth Brownell, Merle Belshaw, Vera Hill, June Klien, and Ellen Love. Messrs Leonard Minninger, Chas. Surprise, Bernie Minninger, Arthur Foster, Herman Purdy, Willie Nichols, Logan Scritchfield and James Phillips.
