The Bales car was coming north and when near the place where the accident happened he met a car that had on the bright lights and the driver would not dim and they so blinded Bales that he could not see the side of the road and crashed into the pole. Bales was not hurt seriously.
Royce has been stationed in a CCC camp in Pulaski County and had been ordered back to this district to take a physical examination preparatory to entering the army. Bales picked him up and offered to bring him to Lowell.
After the car went into the ditch the driver of the other car drove on, not stopping to ascertain whether anyone was hurt or not. The failure to dim lights when meeting another car is very dangerous and any driver who fails to dim should be arrested and fined.
Funeral services for Cecil Royce are being held at the Christian church in Shelby at 10:30 today, with Rev. E.L. Worley officiating. Burial will be made in the North Judson cemetery in charge of Kenneth Sheets.
