The following article was found on page 8, column 2 of the September 13, 1917, Lowell Tribune:
Irvin Sargent, a soldier in the U.S. army, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sargent.
Another news item in column 3 of the same page of the paper adds the following:
Friday last was a happy time for Frank Sargent and wife when their son, Irvin, one of Uncle Sam's soldier boys, arrived home from Delaware. At night about 35 guests came to see him, -- Mrs. Lewis Worley and family, Alvin Sargent and family, Grant Trump and wife and neighbors and friends. He returned to Delaware Tuesday and all join in wishing him and all the other boys good luck and a safe return home after the war.
