The following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Betty Burton of Lowell:
Wrist Broken
Last Thursday Horace Stratton, who lives with his son just north of town, came to town to make out his pension papers. His son Wilford brought him over in a sled and stopped at the G.M. Death corner for him to get out. While getting out at the back end of the sled the horses started, causing the old gentleman to fall forward with such force as to fracture his left arm at the wrist: both bones being broken; protruding through the flesh. He was assisted to Dr. Willits' office, where the doctor reduced the fracture, after which he was conveyed to his home. It is very bad for the old gentleman, as he was barely able to get around before. He is doing as well as could be expected. This makes the third serious accident from falling on the ice in Lowell this winter.
