The following article was found in the Nov. 2, 1916, Lowell Tribune on
page 4, column 3:
A case of infantile paralysis has developed in the home of Mr. and Mrs.
John Strickhorn, south of Lowell, near Grassmere. Their little eight-
year-old daughter is afflicted with the disease. The Shelby school,
where she is a student, has been closed for a week by Trustee Burnham
that every precaution may be taken to prevent the spread of the dread
disease.
