Born in Lansing, Michigan, October 22, 1882, Miss Pearl came with her younger sister, Grace, to Lake County before she was old enough to go to school. The first eight years were spent at Lowell, the family's home place before coming to Crown Point, where Pearl completed schooling.
She later worked with her widowed mother as a seamstress, work she continued as her health allowed after Mrs. Sturdavant's death in 1941. A lifelong interest in church work was expressed for a long time in the teaching of a small boys' Sunday school class. Despite a hip dislocation that lamed her throughout life she was very cheerful and companionable and her work as a dressmaker brought her a wide circle of acquaintance.
Rev. George Hoekstra came from Roseland, Illinois to conduct services at the Linton-McColly chapel her Tuesday afternoon. Burial was made in Salem cemetery.
