Elsworth Grant Sutton was born in West Creek township, Lake Co., Feb. 7th, 1865. In 1902 he moved to Jasper Co. where he has resided until a few days ago when he came for a few weeks visit. Though he has been in poor health he did not think it serious and while visiting his sister Mrs. Mary A. Hayden he became seriously ill and passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 21st, at the age of 54 years, 11 months and 14 days. He was steady and industrious and of a quiet and retiring disposition and made many friends. He was respected and loved by all who knew him. He endeavored to live by the golden rule and therefore had no enemies. He leaves to mourn his loss three brothers: Festus P. Sutton, John H. Sutton and E.O. Sutton, all of West Creek township. Also three sisters: Mrs. Maggie J. Smith of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Mary A. Hayden of Lowell and Mrs. August Einspahr of West Creek township, and a number of other relatives and friends.
Jesus while our hearts are bleeding
O'er the spoil that death has won,
We would at this solemn meeting
Calmly say, 'Thy will be done.'
