He was a patient little sufferer for 5 long weeks, and all that loving hands and medical aid from one of the best specialists could do, was done, but to no avail. His God had called and he had to go. He was a member of the First Congregational Sunday school, the Boys Church club and a member of the 2nd Troup of the Boy Scouts of America. He leaves a father, mother and 2 sisters, Shirley and Evelyn, both at home, besides a host of other relatives and friends. He was the youngest child and only son and a kind and generous hearted little boy; the pride of his doting parents and sisters, and loved by all who knew him.
A short funeral service was held at the home on Wednesday, August 1, at 11 a.m., and the remains were then brought by auto to Lowell, where the funeral services were held in the Christian church at 2 p.m., Rev. Cowley, of the First Congregational church of Hammond officiating. Undertaker Weaver had charge of the burial. Six of the Boy Scouts of Hammond acted as pall bearers, namely, Phillip Schueck, Wm. Sullivan, Howard Beck, Lawrence Dietrick, Russel Van Gilder and Lawrence Dodd. Interment was made in the Lowell cemetery.
