A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the Oct. 4, 1956, Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Charles Palmer and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hayden were recipients of sad news Saturday, September 29, when a message from I.J. Thompson of Mesa, Arizona informed them of the death of Mrs. Thompson. The Thompsons had visited relatives and friends here a month ago when they came to Indianapolis to attend the wedding of their granddaughter. They also visited in Ohio, and enroute home, they had reached Vaughn, New Mexico, when Mrs. Thompson passed away in her sleep on September 26. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Funeral services were held Saturday at Mesa. Mr. Thompson was reared in Lowell and the Thompsons resided at Lafayette before moving to Arizona to be near their son, Max, who died two years ago. Mr. Thompson is the recipient of deepest sympathy from his many area friends.
