A letter from Paul A. Trommer, stationed at San Antonio, Texas, reveals his pleasure at being able to keep up with activities at home via the Tribune. Paul expects to be in San Antonio for three more weeks.
This June 5, 1952, Lowell Tribune artilce was found on page 2, column 4:
Lackland Air Force Base, Texas -- Airman Paul Trommer, 19, son of Mrs. James Trommer, rural route 2, Lowell, is completing his Air Force basic airmen's indoctrination course at Lackland Air Force Base, the "Gateway to the Air Force".
Lackland, situated near San Antonio, is the world's largest air force base, site of Air Force basic training for men and women, headquarters of the Human Resource Center, and home of the Air Force's Officer Candidate School.
This September 25, 1952, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 4:
Paul Trommer, left Tuesday for Rapid City Air Force Base in South Dakota, after enjoying a ten-day leave at home. Paul recently concluded a training course in Mississippi and will serve as an air traffic director at his new post.
This October 9, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 3:
Upon his return to Kessler Air Force Base in Mississippi after a ten-day leave at home, Paul Tommer was transferred to South Dakota. Paul sends his new address to the Tribune and Lowell friends: A/3c Paul A. Trommer AF 16413-885, 1906-AACS Det. Rapid City AFB, Weaver, South Dakota.
The following article was found in the April 1, 1954, Lowell Tribune on
page 5, column 4:
Paul Trommer writes from Chun Chon, Korea, that he has changed bases and
is back in his old "career" as a tower operator, a job which he enjoys.
The town of Chun Chon is only a few miles from the 38th Parallel.
Paul sends his new address and comments, "I will be awaiting the arrival
of the Trib, also letters from anyone who cares to write." A2/c Paul A.
