The following November 9, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5 column 2:
Lt. and Mrs. John Watson are here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewellyn Smith. Lt. Smith will soon be discharged from the navy and they expect to reside in Milwaukee where he intends to resume his former position with the Johns-Manville Company.
Notice that the paper accidently uses "Smith" as Lt. John Watson's last name when it mentions that he will be soon discharged from the Navy.
