The following April 22, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 3, column 4:
Pvt. Kenneth Whiting, of Cedar Lake, stationed at Ft. Sheridan, Ill., spent a few days at home and visiting friends in Lowell. Whiting has two brothers also in service, Lt. Don Whiting, Ft. Riley, Kansas, and Pvt. Wilbur Whiting, Camp Stewart, Georgia.
The following October 18, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
Lt. Kenneth Whiting, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Whiting of Cedar Lake, telephoned his family recently from Yokahama, Japan, to inform them that he had arrived safely at his destination. His wife and son reside in Chicago.
"Kenny" was a most popular student at Lowell high from which he was graduated with the class of '41.
