John Donald Worley of Miami died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, in Joplin, Mo. He was 85.
Worley was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Lowell, Ind., to John Arthur and Barbara (Miller) Worley. He lived in Miami for more than 20 years.
He was a dispatcher for several truck companies. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami. He enjoyed camping, gardening and built several of his homes.
He married Evelyn Covington on Aug. 27, 1939, in Anaheim, Calif. She preceded him in death on Nov. 19, 1996. He was also preceded in death by a son, Scott, and a sister, Naomi Slagle.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, John Richard and Roberta Worley of Miami and Steven and Sarah Worley of Joplin; two daughters, Sharon Marzullo of Joplin and Janalee Sweeten of Tempe, Ariz.; three sisters, Loretta Ritzo and Dorothy Boyce, both of Miami, and Jean Hartman and her husband Dan of Cameron Park, Calif.; six grandchildren, Gina McCafferty, John D. Worley, Theresa Elizabeth Worley, Autumn Fuhrmuark, Mike Sweeten and Shaun Hamilton, and five great- grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church wiith Rev. Gregg Elliott officiating. Burial will be at the GAR Cemetery in Miami.
Pallbearers will be John R. Worley, Steven R. Worley, Robert P. Marzullo, Bill Willmoth, Shaun Hamilton and Darrell McCafferty.
The rosary service will be a 7 p.m. toady at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
