Earl J. Hajic, who sent this photo adds the following:
Carl and my brother Edgar, [are] chatting about 'old times' in the back yard of the Mahler home. The view is toward the south (hence present State Highway 2 is beyond the trees). I believe Edgar said the photo year was about the mid 1950's. The closest portion of the house in the background is the Mahler kirchen; a major 'traffic/logistics/social' center of interest at most any time. A favorite place of mine was sitting on the kitchen steps enjoying the morning sun; there always was at least one cat available for company. The kitchen's refrigerator was usually well stocked for the many guests and varieyt of boarders. A memorable time for Bob Hajic and Don Nelson, however, was when they discovered/ate a nicely prepared roll of 'hamburger' meat only later to be told it was dogfood!
