Lowell businessman Charles E. Nichols, who at one time owned the grain elevator, had this brick home built around 1895.
In the early 1950's, the Castle Brownell family owned the home. Barbara Brownell Anderson recalls, "My father and mother (Castle and Virginia Brownell) purchased it in about 1950, and it is here that my father died in 1952 at the age of 44 years. My mother then turned it into two apartments where she and my brother Park and I lived in the lower apartment ."
In the 1990's it was one of the homes featured in the "Historic Homes of Lowell" brochure put out by the Lowell Public Library.
