Adelbert Palmer and MaryEtta Burch were married in 1849 in North Township, Marshall County (just north of Plymouth). They immediately moved up to Lake County and their history is well documented in lots of publications and their obits. Adelbert D. Palmer traces directly back to Walter Palmer who came to Salem in 1629 as part of the advance group of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. A few years later, he was one of the four founders of Stonington, CT. MaryEtta Burch traces directly back to Thomas Birch who came to Dorchester, Mass in the early 1630's.
The original of the picture is owned by Mary Vance Thompson Phelps who lives in Strongsville, Ohio now and is my Double Third Cousin. Mary Vance and I are both Thompson and Palmer descendents and work together on genealogy.
My First Cousin Judy (Southworth) Jaeger who lives in Crown Point also owns this picture.
We are doubly fortunate in that the clariity of the image is so good after all these years. Also, we know who everyone is! The back of Mary Vance's original has everyone's name and the order in which they sit. I have spent some time figuring out their relations to you.
