This photo was found loose in the Emma Jane Livingston Hilsley photo album. It's in bad shape, cracked, stained and faded, but still shows a slice of life back in 1897. Shown are Bessie Sauer and her husband Peter. They were married in 1891. The boy is son William. The photo was taken in Peter's blacksmith shop in Klaasville, Indiana, mentioned in his obituary. Klaasville is located a few miles west of Lowell near the Illinois border.
