Mrs. Call was accompanying Wm. C. Remeker, 19, boy friend of her daughter, Pearl, to the University at Ames, Iowa, where Pearl is a student, when the accident occurred. Young Remeker was injured but not seriously.
Mrs. Call has two other children, George, who also attends the university at Ames, and Mrs. Marilyn Gould, who is employed at the university while her husband is a student there.
Surviving besides her husband and children are her father, Jasper M. Surprise of Lowell; a sister, Mrs. Delbert (Mabel) Hay[d]en, also of Lowell, and a brother, William J. Surprise of Indianapolis; besides a host of other relatives in the Lowell community.
Ruby was born July 27 1899,* and reared northeast of Lowell. She was graduated from Lowell high with the popular class of 1918 and was an alumna of Bradley College, Peoria, Ill.
Memorial services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the Ottos Chapel, 10928 Mich. Avenue, Chicago, and interment was made in Mount Greenwood cemetery.
* NOTE -- The 1920 Cedar Creek Twp. Schools Enumeration listed the birthdate of Ruby Surprise as Aug. 28, 1900.
