He was united in marriage to Lucille Gardner, now deceased. To this union was born one daughter, Pauline Caroline.
Ward was a young man who had a host of friends here at his old home who regret to learn of his death. Early in life he was attracted to the stage, and later took up the profession of an actor as a life work and he had gained an enviable reputation as an actor, having played in the big theatres in most of the large cities of the United States. A few years ago he was stricken with tuberculosis and followed his profession until he was compelled to give up his work several months ago on account of his health.
He leaves to mourn him, his father, Charles Childress, and mother, Etta Childress, a daughter, two aunts, Mrs. Caroline Sanger and Mrs. Fred Bowman, and many other relatives and friends.
The remains were brought to Lowell and funeral services were held Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bowman, Thursday at 3 p.m. Rev. C.A. Brown, pastor of the Lowell M.E. church preached the funeral service. Interment in the Lowell cemetery. Undertaker Weaver had charge of the burial service.
