Elwood and his wife visited Lowell often; the latest was to attend the golden wedding, in May, of his brother and wife, the Thorne Clarks.
Born in Lowell July 25, 1891, to Wilbur F. and Allie (DuMond) Clark, Elwood attended the Church of Christ here as a boy and was educated in the Lowell schools and Valparaiso university. He worked for the LaCrosse Dredging Co. for thirty years, moving with his family up and down the Mississippi river.
His wife, Agnes, preceded him in death in 1934, and his son, Richard, was killed in action during World War II. He was married to Blanche Dickson in 1936.
Upon retiring in their scenic home overlooking the Mississippi river at Dresbach, Minnesota, he maintained with pride his berry, vegetable and flower gardens, and as an added hobby, he did woodcraft, often giving attractive souvenirs to guests who visited them. They spent several winters in California.
Elwood was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Both organizations assisted Rev. Joseph Lehman with funeral services at the Nelson Funeral Home in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He was buried at Dresbach, Minnesota near his home and the river.
He leaves besides his wife, Blanche, three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Guthrie, Mrs. Winn (Loetta) Guthrie, both of Berien Springs, Michigan, Mrs. Milton (Bonnie) Lodoen of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and one son, Derwood of California, 15 grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Izetta Armagost of Great Falls, Montana, four brothers, Perry of Keysport, Illinois, Jack of Enumclau, Washington, Thomas of Perris, California and Thorne of Lowell.
