Dorothy Alma Ervine was born at Schneider, May 23, 1921, and lived there with her parents until March 1924, when her parents removed to Hammond which was still her home at the time of her death August 13th, at the age of 4 years, 2 months and 21 days. On Aug. 3, she, with her parents, went to Pontiac, Ill., to visit her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Browell where she was taken seriously ill on Aug. 6 and was later removed to St. James hospital, where our Heavenly Father called her home on Thursday, August 13, at 3:40 p.m. She leaves to mourn her death her mother, father and baby sister, Virginia, 14 months old, who is at St. James hospital with the same ailment -- typhoid fever. Also, her grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lange, of Hammond, and Mr. and Mrs. Ervine, of Fairbury, Ill; aunts -- Margaret Henry, Mrs. Opal Yoder and Miss Geraldine, and uncles, Bernard, Deyo and Kenneth Gilson, all of Hammond, and Charlie Gilson in the navy in Texas, and uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Martin, Schneider; great grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Burnham, of Schneider, and Grandma Martin; great uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burnham, of Schneider, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Burnham of Lowell, Mr. and Mrs. Berry Wearda, of Ft. Wayne, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Burnham, of Minnesota, and cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church at Schneider. Rev. Arthur Colton conducted the services. The flower girls were: Ethel Cole, Bertha Hildebrandt, Gladys Larson, Mary Pasel, Emma and Glee Latta. Pall-bearers -- Helen Turner, Violet and Velma Cobb, and Alice Jones. Interment was made in Lowell cemetery in charge of Undertaker Sheets.
