Serving aboard the Trathen is Charles R. Faverty, personnel man seaman, USN, son of Marion W. Faverty of Route 2, Lowell.
Departing the U.S. in January for the Far East, the destroyers spent four months in the Korean combat zone as units of Blockade and Escort Task Force 95 and fast carrier TF 77. After leaving the combat zone, the destroyers continued on the good will phase of the world voyage, visiting Hong Kong; Singapore; Colombo, Ceylon and Aden before transiting the Suez Canal to enter the Mediterranean.
Liberty stops made in Athens, Greece; Naples, Italy; Cannes, France; and Gibraltar climaxed this leg of the journey.
