LAD BREAKS NECK
DIVE INTO CEDAR LAKE IS FATAL FOR 17 YEAR OLD.
Last Thursday night Clarence Finneran, of Calumet City, Ill., was swimming at Cedar Lake and dove into the water, his head striking the bottom which was shallow at that point, and as a consequence his neck was broken. His companions removed him from the water and he was rushed to the Hammond hospital and later was taken to the Wesley hospital in Chicago. An operation was performed and he was improving nicely but on Monday he took a turn for the worse and passed away in a short time.
He was 17 years old and was a student at Illinois University. He was an exceptionally bright young man and his death has cast a gloom over residents of his home city. Funeral services will be held today.
