Louisa (Louise) Hill Hayden (1826-1891)
(Mrs. Daniel Hayden)
A copy of the following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Mrs. Louisa (Hill) Hayden was born in Connecticut March 28th, 1826, and died at her home in West Creek, May 20, 1891 at the age of 65 years, one month, and 24 days. In 1840 she came with her father's family to Lake County, where she has resided ever since. She was married to Daniel Hayden December 25th, 1844, to this union 13 children were born; all living, and all married but one; Lottie. All the children but one attended their mother's funeral; Mrs. L.E. Bailey, being absent on account of sickness. Only eight months [ago] the children were called to mourn the death of their father. Mrs. Hayden suffered from a complication of diseases, the same being aggravated by an attack of la grippe. She was a woman that was highly respected by all who knew her, and will be greatly missed and mourned by the entire neighborhood in which she lived. A faithful wife, a kind and indulgent mother, has passed away. Her funeral which was very largely attended, took place from the family residence at 2 o'clock p.m. Thursday the 21st, Rev. Taylor of Grand Park, Ill., officiating. Her mortal remains were laid to rest beside her lately deceased husband in the West Creek cemetery. We extend to the doubly bereaved children and friends our warmest sympathies in their second great bereavement.
