The following unidentified newspaper article was in a collection owned by Lowell Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Jessie Nichols Hoshaw was born to Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Nichols January 17, 1875, and died February 1, 1897, aged 22 years and 15 days. She was married to C.B. Hoshaw January 30, 1895. When a girl she was faithful to the Sunday school and took an interest in the work of Christ, but delayed to make a public confession of her faith in Jesus until August last. After the death of her brother she was counseled to prepare to meet him. She was gentle in spirit, of a loving disposition, having a kindly feeling and a smile for everyone, loved and admired by all who knew her. She has not been able to attend church, but had planned with her husband to attend as soon as possible. She leaves a husband and infant babe, father, mother, three brothers, three sisters, and other relatives and friends to mourn her departure. Her mother was not able to be present at the funeral service, neither has she been able to see her, or her other two children after their decease. The funeral service was held at the Christian church, the pastor, S. Moot, officiating.
