Mr. and Mrs. Horace Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Powell and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Ault celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of their marriage last Wednesday, September 20th; they all having been married at the same time and place. A very enjoyable time was had.

FORMER RESIDENT DIES SUDDENLY
HORACE JOHNSON SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK IN GARY WEDNESDAY
Word was received late last Wednesday that Horace Johnson, a former resident of Lowell, had succumbed to a heart attack in Gary that day.
He had just finished a job of building a garage and was in the act of gathering up his tools prepatory to going to his home when the attack came on. He passed away in a very few minutes. He was a resident of Lowell for many years and had a host of friends here who regret very much to hear of his death.
OBITUARY
Horace Johnson was born February 12, 1857, and passed away in Gary, October 9, 1940, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 27 days. He was the fourth child of Daniel and Elmira Johnson, of which there were eight.
At the time of his birth his parents lived in Fort Atkinson, Wisc., and when a young boy he moved with his parents, to Yates Center, Kansas, where he grew to manhood, and where on September 20, 1880, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ault, who was then residing in Yates Center.
During their nine years residence in Kansas three children were born to them, John A., of Lowell, Myrtle, of Gary, and a daughter who passed away in infancy.
In 1889 he, with his family moved to Tacoma, Wash., where they resided for four years and then moved to Lowell, where they continued to reside until April 1925, when he and his family moved to Gary, where they have since resided. His wife passed away February 15, 1926.
At the age of 15 years he united with the church, and when he and his wife moved here from Tacoma, they united with the Christian church, where he held membership at the time of his death.
He was a man who numbered his friends by the number of his acquaintances and if he had an enemy we did not know of it. He was of a cheerful disposition, and always met his friends with a smile. He was a home loving man.
He leaves to mourn his passing his son, John, of Lowell, daughter, Myrtle, of Gary, two sisters, Mrs. Klow, of Everett, Wash., and Mrs. Hamilton, of Seattle, Wash., three grand-children and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 11th, at 2 p.m., from the Geisen Funeral Home in Gary, the service was conducted by Rev. E.L. Worley, of Lowell. Burial was made in the Hebron cemetery beside his wife.
