The following unidentified newspaper article (ca. 1904) was found in a scrapbook owned by Betty Burton of Lowell:
Frank Maloy was called to the home of his brother, Dr. Maloy, at Steger, Ill., Sunday, where he found their mother very ill with pneumonia, the doctor's wife exceeding low with the affects of childbirth, her mother ill, their little daughter who has grip, and an aunt who was there assisting, was also sick. The doctor's wife at the time Mr. Maloy left was in a very critical condition and not expected to live. This is a very sad state of affairs.
