Janett Lee Worley, 18-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. "Bee" Worley of Lowell, who was graduated from Lowell high school last spring, is reporting today, Thursday, Sept. 25th, for indoctrination in the U.S. Woman's Air Force.

A popular girl, Janett was sponsored by the Wildwood Home Ec club as queen candidate for the title of "Miss Lowell Centennia.l. Janett has the well wishes of her many friends for success in her chosen field. She will soon be "at home" at the world's largest air force base, Lackland, Texas.

Janett Lee Worley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Worley, writes from Fort Lee, Virginia, that she likes Army life just fine. Lowell WAC, Thayer Marine, Wed March 12

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. "Bee" Worley of Lowell announce the marriage of their daughter, Janett Lee to Marine PFC Charles J. Nugent, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lovel Nugent, of Thayer.

Janett and Carl were married on the 12th of March in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Janett was attired in a white linen suit with blue accessories. Carl was in uniform.

The maid of honor, a friend of the bride's, Darlene O. Ware of Newberg, Oregon, was donned in a red knit suit with blue accessories. The best man was a friend of the groom's, James L. Fortus of Louisville, Kentucky.

Janett is a graduate of Lowell high school and is a Corporal in the Women's Army Corps. She was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, for a year, but following her 28 day leave she will be enroute to Japan.

Carl attended Mr. Ayr high school and is now serving with the U.S. Marines. He is stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station at Cherry Point, North Carolina.

WAC Sgt. Janett L. Worley Nugent, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Worley, Route 1, Lowell, is a member of the Camp Zama Women's Army Corps honor platoon in Japan. Her unit is the only female honor guard in the Far East. Sgt. Nugent, whose husband, Carlos J. Nugent, is stationed with the Marine Corps at Cherry Point, N.C., is a supply specialist. She entered the corps in 1952, after graduation from Lowell high school, and arrived in the Far East last May.

Janett Lee (Worley) Nugent passed on to Heaven August 3, 2004. She was born Sept 27, 1933, to Bee and Rose Worley in Lowell. Janett was preceded in death by her father, J.L. (Bee) Worley, her sister, Mary Louise Allen, her brother ABCM (USN) Joseph F. Worley. She is survived by her mother, Rose Truesdale of Florida; sisters, Rose Surber of Florida, Jo Ann Worley of California; half sisters, Dana Sharkey of Lowell, Laurie June Worley and her aunt, Gladys Gerner of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services were held in Petaluma, CA, on August 13, 2004, at Adobe Creek Funeral Home. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at the side of her brother ABCM (USN) Joseph F. Worley at a later date. Janett graduated from Lowell High and enlisted in the Women’s Army Corp in 1952 and was stationed at Camp Zama, Japan. She received many honors including the American Spirit Award for Outstanding Performance. After her tour of duty in the army, Janett moved to Los Angeles, CA, and was employed by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. While living in L.A. she received her AA degree in speech at Cal State. Retiring from Fireman’s Fund, Janett moved to Petaluma, CA, and opened a T-shirt shop with a friend. She loved Petaluma and often said it reminded her of Lowell. She was well-known and loved; most people called her the "T-shirt Lady." Her family and friends will miss her, but her unselfish acts of kindness and good deeds will never be forgotten. The blessings she gave while on this earth will forever remain in the hearts of the people whose lives she touched. "Fair Winds & Following Seas Jan"
