This undated article from an unknown newspaper was found in a scrapbook owned by Richard C. Schmal, Lowell Town Historian:
RUSSELL PATTERSON
Russell Patterson was born in Montgomery county, Ohio, March 20, 1833, and came with his parents to Lake county, Ind., in 1844, where they resided during their life time. Since their death Russell had made his home for the past twenty years with his sister, Mrs. Washington Allen, now of Lowell, who tenderly cared for her brother during his infirmity. He was relieved by death May 3, 1907, aged 74 years, 1 month and 14 days.
Funeral services, conducted by Elder John Bruce, were held Sunday afternoon, May 5, 1907, at the West Creek Methodist Church. Interment in the church yard. Funeral Director John Castle was in charge of the burial service. The following acted as pallbearers: Fred Hayden, Byron Chipman, Fred Buse, James Love, Mahlon Hathaway and Charles Bailey.
Mrs. W. Allen, of Lowell, and Alexander Patterson, of Danville, Ill., are the only rwo left of a family of eleven children.
