The deceased, a native of this vicinity, was 72 years of age and until illness came to his lot, was a progressive farmer, having lived his entire life on the homestead farm in the northern portion of Cedar Creek township. He was one of a large and thrifty family born to two of Lake county's pioneer residents whose names were familiar a half century ago.
Surviving him are five children: Ernest, William, Mrs. Clarence Hoshaw, Mrs. Henry Menching, of this vicinity, and Mrs. Jess Kyle, of East Chicago. Three sisters and two brothers -- Mrs. Carrie Massoth, Mrs. Mary Esslinger, of this city; Mrs. Albertina Fink, of Hammond; Peter, of Chicago; and John, of Earl Park, this state. A brother, Mathias Seramur, died last October.
Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Esslinger on North Thomas street Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment is Maplewood cemetery.
