Mrs. Sisson was born Emma Ellen Pinkerton, the daughter of James and Sarah (Sanders) Pinkerton, on December 24, 1873, in West Creek Township near Lowell. She had two sisters, Amma (Mrs. Bert Nichols) and Grace (Mrs. Claude Rumsey) and one brother, Cass Pinkerton. Her father, James Pinkerton, was an early member of the Church of Christ in Lowell where Mrs. Sisson is one of the oldest members of the congregation. Her father also helped to organize and build the Church of Christ at Shelby where today her great grandson Don Wilson, is serving as minister.
She was married to Will Sisson and they lived in the Lowell vicinity where he was employed in the feed and grain elevator business. Both were active in church affairs. He died in 1938.
Mrs. Sisson has 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
A brief tribute was wired from the families of her two nephews, the Doctors Forrest and Odgen Pinkerton of Honolulu, Hawaii, which read "Congratulations to our beloved Aunt Bird Sisson, matriarch of the Pinkerton-Sanders clan. She has enriched the lives of all who have known her. Our birthday wishes are for many more."
She expressed appreciation for all the flowers, gifts and birthday messages.
