An alumna of Lebanon High School, the bride-elect is finishing her second year at Indiana University's School of X-ray Technology at Indianapolis.
Her fiance, a graduate of Lowell High School and Indiana University, is presently a Senior Medical Student at Indianapolis, Indiana.
Wedding plans are being made for September 4th at Mechanicsburg, Indiana.
Back of the altar in the church hangs an original painting, a gift from the bride. Spiral candelabra burned on each side of the painting. This formed the background for large arrangements of white mums, pink carnations and orchid pomps. The aisle to the altar was lined with palms and schefflera behind a white fence. Pews were marked by floral designs in the bridal colors.
The Rev. Raymond Duff officiated for the double-ring ceremony, following traditional music played by Mrs. R.L. Holland, organist. The vocalist Tom Coahran sang Whither Thou Goest, Because, and The Lord's Prayer.
Dale Durbin was best man. Jerry Steward of Lowell and Marvin Odom of Plymouth also attended the bridegroom. Ushers were Drew Carroll, Frankfort; Phil Clements, Indianapolis; Richard St. Peter, Franklin and Lloyd Hayden, Thorntown.
The maid of honor was Miss Lynda McConnaha of Lebanon, in a street length delustered pink satin sheath. The flowing back panel was attached at the waist by a double flat bow. Her head piece was a cabbage rose, worn with a short veil. Bridesmatrons were Mrs. Marvin Odom, of Plymouth and Mrs. Richard St. Peter, Franklin. They were dressed like the maid of honor in orchid and pink. All carried candle arrangements, dwarf pink carnations and orchid pomps, tied with streamers matching their dresses.
The miniature bride, Cheryl St. Peter, was a replica of her aunt, carrying a small duplicate of the bridal bouquet. Thomas Odom was the miniature bridegroom.
The little flower girl, Mardeana Odom, wore an orchid nylon organdy frock with bouffant skirt and puff sleeves. She scattered pink and orchid flower petals from a basket tied with streamers in these colors. Ricky St. Peter carried the rings on a satin pillow.
The bride, on the arm of her father, appeared in a gown of white delustered satin, with sabrina neckline and elbow length sleeves, and floor pleats. The fitted bodice, from the neck to the waist, featured a silk organza triangular front, with Alencon lace motifs, hand embroidered with pearls and sequins. The motifs appeared again on the watteau train of silk organza, bordered with satin. Another feature of the gown was a narrow double flat bow of satin in the back at the shoulder.
The veil of illusion was secured to a tiara of seed pearls. The accent was a single Aurora Borealis pearl, dangling in the front of the tiara. The headdress was designed and made by the bride. She also originated the style of the gown, which was made by her mother, Mrs. Hayden, and sister, Mrs. Marvin Odom.
The bride carried an arm bouquet of white snowdrift pomps and stephanotis, centered with a detachable white orchid corsage, created with white illusion and white satin streamers. The mothers wore white orchids with white accessories.
The table at the reception in the church dining room was covered with a floor length pink damask cloth, overlaid with orchid net. Scattered pink and lavender orchids were predominate on the front panel. Appointments were crystal tapers, pink candles and nests of net, holding pairs of white love birds.
The four-tiered wedding cake, with a bride and bridegroom ornament, was decorated with white doves and pink roses surrounded with spun sugar leaves, and circled with smilax and tinted pink and orchid carnations.
The room for the reception had been transformed into a garden scene, with greenery and white wrought iron love seat and chair. Two topiary trees of pink and orchid net with lavender orchids, and an orchid base filled with a pink bouquet, completed the setting.
Assisting at the reception were Miss Janet Wheat, Miss Julie Smock, Lebanon; Mrs. James French, Mrs. Ples Shanklin, Mrs. Floyd Sheets, and Mrs. Charles Robert Caldwell, and Miss Margaret Ziegler, Mechanicsburg; Miss Suzie Hogan, Charleoi, Penna; Miss Mary Beth Furr, Crawfordsville; Miss Cheryl Woodrum, Danville, Ill; and Miss Nancy Melz, Frankfort.
The bride is a 1964 graduate from the Indiana University Medical Center, in x-ray technology, and the bridegroom is a senior medical student. After a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, they will reside in Indianapolis, at 3540 North Meridian Street, Biltmore Apartments, No. 107.
