The son of Philip and Bridget Stuppy, he was born in West Creek township on May 30th, 1879. He was graduated from Lowell high school in 1898 and was an alumnus of Indiana Law School and Vorhees Business College at Indianapolis. He taught school in West Creek Township for five years and practiced law in Crown Point and Hammond for several years before his association with the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railroad in South Chicago. He retired in 1942 after 35 years of service to the railroad.
Survivors include a brother, Edgar T. Stuppy of Creston and a sister, Mrs. Emma Belshaw of Tampa, Fla., also many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Memorial services were held in the Weaver funeral home Wednesday Jan. 27, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. E.L. Worley officiating. , and interment was in the Creston cemetery with John Eskridge in charge of arrangements.
