Oliver Ragon SURPRISE was born on 16 Jun 1905* in Lowell, IN. He died on 6 Mar 1986 in Orlando, Orange Co., FL. He was buried in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater, FL. Was divorced brom both Bonnie and Elaine Guernsey.
* NOTE -- The 1920 Cedar Creek Twp. Schools Enumeration listed the birthdate of Oliver Surprise as June 16, 1906; the H.H. Ragon family Bible listed his birth date as June 16, 1905.
This obituary, from the March 19, 1986, Lowell Tribune, appeared on page 18, column 8:
Oliver R. Surprise, age 80, descendant of a Lowell Pioneer family, passed away Thurs., Mar. 6, 1986, at the home of a daughter and her family, Dianne and Robert Dirscherl in Orlando, Fla. He is also survived by his wife, Ruby King Surprise; one son, Mickie (Eleanor) Surprise of Merritt Island, Fla.; a second daughter, Jane (Frank) Kisselbach of Cherry Hill, N.J.; one sister, Myrtle Fulford of Palm Harbor, Fla.; three brothers, Albert E. Surprise and Charles L. Surprise, both of Dunedin, Fla., and Harry H. Surprise of Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Memorial services were held at the Moss-Feaster Chapel in Dunedin, and interment followed at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, Fla. Oliver R. Surprise was born June 16, 1905*, in Lowell, graduated from Lowell High School in 1924, and attended Northwestern University. He moved from Chicago, Ill., to Florida in 1938. A retired accountant for the New York Shipyard in Camden, N.J., he later was a North Pinellas County, Fla., realtor, residing in Palm Harbor. He was a member to the First United Methodist Church, Tarpon Springs, and the Southerland Lodge #174, F. and A.M. in Palm Harbor. He was also 32nd degree Mason of the Tampa Consistory Scottish Rite.
