Mrs. Fred Van Ardsdell, spent Monday and Tuesday with her husband at Chanute Field, Rantoul, Ill., where he is stationed with the U.S. air corps.

Transferred to Florida Base
Having completed his schooling at Chanute Field, Pvt. Fred VanArsdell has been transferred to the air base at Orlando, Fla., where he has assumed his duties.
This April 15, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 3:
Mrs. Fred VanArsdell left Tuesday for Orlando, Florida, for an extended visit with her husband, Pvt. Fred VanArsdell, who is stationed at the Orlando air base.
The following article was found in the April 29, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 2, column 1:
It is now Pfc. James F. VanArsdell instead of Private, following a recent promotion given this soldier. Fred is stationed at the air base in Orlando, Fla., in the air service department.
The following article was found in the April 20, 1944, Lowell Tribune on page 3, column 3:
S/Sgt. James F. VanArsdell, and wife, are here from Orlando, Fla., visiting his parents, the Isaac VanArsdells. They also visited her parents in Chicago. Fred is stationed at the Orlando air base.
On page 6, column 3 of the same paper there was another article:
Family members gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac VanArsdell last Sunday in honor of their son, and brother, S/Sgt. James VanArsdell, and wife, who are here from Orlando, Fla., for a 9-day visit. Home for the day were Miss Prudence VanArsdell of Chicago; Mrs. Joy Hamann and family of Crown Point. The family spent an enjoyable day of visiting.
The following July 6, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:

It is now Technical Sgt. James F. VanArsdell, Fred having been promoted to that rank last week. He is stationed with the air corps at Orlando, Fla.
The following Sept. 14, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4 column 2:
Awarded Marksmanship Medal
Orlando, Fla., Sept. 1 -- T/Sgt. James F. VanArsdell has been awarded a marksmanship medal by his Commanding Officer at the AAF tactical center, Orlando, Fla., after qualifying as a marksman in a recent 30-cal. carbine competition. A graduate of Lowell high school, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac VanArsdell and was employed by the Shell American Petroleum Co. before entering the service.

T/Sgt. Fred Van Arsdell and wife, of Orlando, Fla., arrived here last Saturday for a ten days visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Van Arsdell. Fred, with the air corps, looks like army life agrees with him.
This February 15, 1945, Lowelll Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
T/Sgt. Fred Van Arsdell, writing his parents, the Isaac Van Arsdells, informs them he has been awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Fred is stationed at the air field at Orlando, Fla.
This June 14, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 5:
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Van Arsdell was the scene of an enjoyable family dinner last Sunday in honor of their son, T/Sgt. Fred Van Arsdell, who, accompanied by his wife, is home form Orlando, Fla., for fifteen days.
Those present to enjoy the day in addition to the honored guests were Miss Prudence Van Arsdell of Chicago; Mrs. Joy Hamman and son of Crown Point, and Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Van Arsdell.
In another article on page 2, column 1 of this issue of the paper is the following:
T/Sgt. Fred Van Arsdell and wife are here from Orlando, Fla., where he is stationed. They are visiting his parents here, and relatives and friends in Chicago and Munster. They will return to Florida next Sunday.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the February 14, 1946, issue (page 2, column 1):
S/Sgt. Fred VanArsdell and wife arrived home from Orlando, Fla., where Fred has been stationed the past three years. He has received his discharge from the service.
This April 11, 1946, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 7, column 5:
Fred Van Arsdell has reopened the Shell service station at the Monon tracks on road 2. Fred operated the station before entering the armed forces.
