Mrs. Smith is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James N. Moore, and when she was a small child her parents lived on what is known as the Marvin farm, now owned by Dr. George Stuppy. She informed us that her parent got their mail at the West Creek Postoffice, and she remembers as a girl of being sent to the postoffice for the mail which probably came only once a week. She did not remember the location of the office but told us that the name of the postmaster was Ed Farley.
We called on Arthur Farley and asked him who Ed Farley was. Mr. Farley informed us that he was his uncle and was the postmaster. He remembers the office very distinctively and that it was located on the farm now owned by and operated by Ervin Brown. He says that his uncle kept the mail in a large trunk and sorted it through when patrons of the office came for their mail. He says his uncle received the mammoth sum of $16 per year for his services as postmaster.
This office was in existence 85 years ago as the letter we published was dated from the office in 1842.
