On November 17, a literary club, called the Itaretil, was organized. There were just twenty-nine charter members. Fabian Henry was elected President; Sylvia Rudolph, Vice-President; Dorris Clark, Secretary; amd Marguerite Bowman, Treasurer. Mr. Dickey and Miss Emerine were elected faculty advisors.
The members decided to hold their regular meetings on the first Tuesday of each month. December 20th was the first meeting of the club and it was held at the L.H.S. building. A program was given, but the "main program" was the initiation of new members, for seventeen were taken in that night. Refreshments were served.
The second meeting was held on January 16. Eleven new members were taken into the club. A program was given after which refreshments were served.
February 7 the third meeting was held. It was suggested that the club should raise enough funds to give a banquet. Immediately a picture show for the club's benefit was talked of, and was given on March 8. Five more people heard of the good times and joined the club.
On March 14 our banquet was given in grand style. Afterwards games were played. Five new members were admitted.
The club has been a great help to its members in helping them to improve themselves in a literary way. And it is hoped the society will become a permanent organization in our High School.
