Lowell Public Library, 1922

The Lowell Public Library, a gift from Andrew Carnegie, was erected in 1920. It was dedicated and given to the people of Cedar Creek and West Creek townships, and the town of Lowell for their use on the fifteenth of November of that year.

In the early history of the Library the Parent-Teachers Club deserves great credit, for it was through their untiring efforts that a way was made possible for the erection and maintenance of a Carnegie public library.

Donations by various organizations and individuals have been received and great interest is manifested by the public in general.

Public libraries have proven themselves one of the most valuavle social, spiritual, educational and practical forces in the history of any community.

The wonderful democratic institution, the Free Public Library, serving alike rich and poor, young and old, with no race, no creed, and no class distinction, has a marvelous opportunity to mould public opinion into right thinking.
