Maria Parsons (Mrs. Thomas) Belshaw, born in 1825, was the daughter of West Creek pioneers Richard and Harriet (Ludington) Parsons, and the author of one of three diaries, or journals, kept during the long and tiresome trek from Indiana to Oregon in 1853.
