MRS. FRED AULT
Miss Mattie Jones was born in London, Kansas, October 12, 1873, and moved with her parents to Lake co., Indiana, in 1875. She united with the church March 3, 1890. Her marriage to Fred B. Ault took place April 6*, 1898, and to this union three children were born, Ivon, Harry and Ester. The family moved to Kansas in Dec. 1901, and returned on account of Mrs. Ault's failing health in Oct. 1903. She was taken at once to the home of her father-in-law, John Ault, where in spite of medical assistance and the tender care of many loving friends and relatives, she grew slowly and gradually weaker and nearer the end, which all who looked at the pale patient face knew was all too close. She passed away Dec. 26, 1903, 10:20 P.M. Her last moments were spent in prayer for the dear ones she left behind. Her death was not unexpected by herself and she was perfectly willing and ready to go. She leaves a husband, three children, a father, three brothers, one sister and a host of other near relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church Monday, Dec. 28, 1903, Rev. C.L. McKim, assisted by Rev. D.D. Hoagland. Her three brothers, John, Charlie and Arthur Jones, and her husband's three brothers, Jay, Johnnie and Ed Ault, acted as pall bearers. Funeral Director John Castle had charge of the burial service. Interment in the Lowell cemetery.
We are grieving for one we have lost,
Dear friend, wife and mother is gone,
We will meet her in Paradise's host,
When we have been claimed as God's own.
Let us live as we all know we must,
Each, God-like and truthful and fair,
That when life on the earth is past,
We'll be able to meet her up there.
