A copy of the following undated newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
WEDDED SIXTY-FIVE YEARS
Mr. and Mrs. Amos Brannon, who are among our aged and most highly respected citizens, were married in September, 1844 and therefore have traveled life's pathway together nearly sixty-five years. Mr. Brannon was born September 16, 1821 and Mrs. Brannon nee Sarah* Taylor was born April 2, 1827. They were among the early pioneers of West Creek Township. Of the eleven children born to them, seven survive to comfort their parents in their declining years. They are: Mrs. Thomas Lee, Crown Point; J.W. and Lucian, Billings, Montana; Mrs. Hiram Haskin, Bridger, Montana; Mrs. Lester Hayden, Topeka, Ind.; Mrs. Leroy Hayden and Milo, Lowell. His sister, Miss Emily Brannon, resides near them in Lowell. Two years ago Mr. Brannon fell on the ice and since then has been an invalid, not being able to get around much. Mrs. Brannon is enjoying fair health for one of her age.
* NOTE -- Other sources list Amos Brannon's wife as Sallie Taylor rather than as Sarah.
