An article about the West Creek Township 8th grade commencement was in the May 18, 1901, issue of the Lowell Souvenir (page 9, column 2). This group of students from the West Creek schools was the largest ever to have graduated up to that time -- 15 students. This section was included in the article:
Following a song by the Lowell Ladies' Quartet, were essays by Beulah Plummer and Hanna Schilling and recitations by Iona Chapman, Jessie Pulver and Logie Scritchfield, all which were pleasingly rendered and attentively received by the audience.
This Jan. 3, 1903, Lowell Souvenir article was found on page 9, column 1:
Mrs. J.B. Bailey and her neice, Miss Iona Chapman, visited Chicago Wednesday.
This May 2, 1903, Lowell Souvenir article appeared on page 8, column 2. (Note the spellings of the names, which are slightly different from the above articles. The aunt is actually Mrs. J.B. Bailey.):
Mrs. J.C. Baily and her neice Ione Chapman formally installed themselves in their new home in Lowell, Thursday.
The Cedar Creek Township cemetery book shows Iona G. Castle as born in 1885, died in 1970, and buried in row A1 of the Lowell Cemetery.
