The following unidentified newspaper article was in a collection owned by Lowell Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Ozias W. Clark was born in Naples, Ontario county, New York, December 11, 1831, and died at the home of his sister, Mrs. R.M. Hill, in Lowell, at 7:30 a.m., February 23, 1908, at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 17 days. In 1836 he moved with his parents to Michigan where the family remained one and then came to Lake county, Indiana, settling near Pleasant Grove, where he grew to manhood. He had but little advantage in the schools of that day, yet he acquired an education sufficient to make him a good business man. He served the people of Cedar Creek township as Assessor for nearly a quarter of a century and always discharged this important duty to the entire satisfaction of all. He also engaged in the hardware business in Lowell for a number of years. He was afflicted by a bodily infirmity which unfitted him for manual labor, yet he was never found idle so long as his health permitted. He was a man of strict integrity and dealt honestly and fairly with his fellow man and was highly respected by all. He was never married. His funeral occurred from the home of his sister, Mrs. R.M. Hill, Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m. Rev. T.F. Drake preached the funeral discourse. The M.E. church choir furnished the music. Funeral Director John Castle had charge of the burial service. Interment in the Lowell cemetery beside his parents. The following nephews acted as pall-bearers: Carl Brownell, Add Clark, Earl Pulver, Leo Clark, E.H. Crook and Harry Hill. He leaves two sisters -- Mrs. Mary J. McDonald, Dean, Montana, and Mrs. R.M. Hill, Lowell; three brothers -- E.S., G.S. and J.O., of Lowell; together with a number of other relatives and friends, who have the sympathy of this community in their sorrow and bereavement.
