A copy of the following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
MARRIED -- On Wednesday, August 13, 1890, at the residence of Mr. C.N. Morton by Rev. Luckey, of Crown Point, Mr. George Cottrill of this place, and Miss Grace Knoll, of Merrillville, were quietly united in matrimony. No invited guests were present to witness the ceremony. Mr. Cottrill repaired to his home with his bride where they remained until Thursday evening, then went to Westville and spent a few days with friends. May joy and happiness crown the young couple so they may never have cause to regret this important step.
