Mrs. Grace Hathaway Died After Long Illness

Mrs. Grace Hathaway, 85, died Saturday, September 3, in Memorial Hospital, Springfield, Ill. She had been ill a long time, and left her home on East Main St. about a year ago. She had lived here for 26 years.

She was born near Merrillville and lived in Lake County all of her lifetime until she became ill about a year ago. She married George Cotril* and they farmed on the nine-mile-stretch until his death. Later she married Clint Hill of Crown Point, and after his death, she married Paul Hathaway of Lowell, who passed away 12 years ago.

Only survivors are a step-daughter, Mrs. Mabel Hill Hein of Kenosha, Wis., and a second cousin, Russell Knoll, of Pittsburg, Pa. Both attended memorial services held Wednesday in the Linton-McColly Chapel, in Crown Point, with Rev. Jasper Cox, officiating. Burial was in the Lowell cemetery.

* NOTE -- This obituary lists her first husband's last name as "Cotril," but the obituary of her second husband spells it "Cottrill," as does the marriage announcement of George Cottrill amd Grace Knoll.
