The following August 11, 1921 Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 5:
Hughie Carl Curtis, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. George Curtis, was born on April 19*, 1909, at Roselawn, Ind., and departed this life August 5, 1921, aged 12 years, 3 months and 17 days. Hughie was sick only a short time but was a patient sufferer until death came. He leaves to mourn him, his father, mother, two sisters, two brothers, grandfathers, grandmothers and many other relatives. Funeral services were held at the Shelby M.E. church Sunday at 2 p.m. There was a large attendance of sorrowing relatives and friends. Rev. Earl J. Edwards, of Chicago, preached the funeral sermon. Interment was made in the Lowell cemetery. Undertaker William Sheets had charge of the burial service.
