This undated, unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Tuesday, June 25th being the 84th birthday of Julius Eich, of Shelby, his children and grandchildren planned a surprise and came home for the occasion, bringing well filled baskets, and at noon three tables were set, all enjoying the sumptuous dinner. He was the recipient of several gifts, among them one from Samuel Sirois who called in the afternoon to extend good wishes. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank West and family; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lindenmeyer; Elmer Hurst of Hammond; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Eich and family of Lowell; Mr. and Mrs. A. Holton and family; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kimmet and family; Julius Eich, Mat. Eich, Miss Christena Eich of Shelby.
