Mildred is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.P. Pixley, of 339 Oak St., Hammond, but formerly of Lowell, where the bride attended high school and has a host of friends. Clair is a resident of Hammond and a graduate of Hammond Tech.
The church was decorated very simply with huge baskets of daisies, and about three hundred relatives and friends witnessed the lovely ceremony.
William H. Radke, of the Chicago Musical College, played "I Love You Truly" on the pie organ, after which Professor Mincher, also of Chicago, sang "At Dawning" and "Calm as the Night" with Miss Schultz, of Hammond, at the piano.
Then as the strains of Lohengren's wedding march wafted through the church, the bridal procession came down the aisles. Down the left aisle came the ushers, in dark suits, Leslie Schofield, of Griffith, Henry Lee, of Orland, Ill., Donald Kaga and Hilton Benninghoff, of Hammond. The bride's maids marched down the opposite aisle, attired in lovely dresses in the lighter shades and carrying bouquets of baby breath, peonies and roses. Each girl wore a silver head band, set with rhinestone. They were Lyrrell Taylor and Alice Taylor, of Lowell, Helen Claire Vinnedge, of Creston, Leila Clemans, of Champaign, and Nellie Mae Harder of Chicago. Little Marjorie Beth Meyers*, as the tiny flower girl, wore a ruffled yellow organdie, and carried a basket of daisies and roses. She was followed by her mother, Mrs. MaeBelle Meyer*, who served her sister at matron of honor. She wore a beautiful gown of flowered chiffon and picture hat. The groom, attended by Harold Benson as best man, then took their places at the altar. The bride then came down the middle aisle with her father, who gave her in marriage. She looked lovely in a gown of cream colored flat crepe, with an embroidered veil of white tulle, and held at the forehead with a band of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of roses, lilies of the valley and baby's breath. The single ring ceremony was read by Rev. E.L. Steffey, of Bowling Green, Ky.
Immediately after the ceremony a two course luncheon was served to 100 guests at the new home being built by the bridal pair at 427 Hickory St. The tables were decorated with yellow crepe paper and green ferns. Vases filled with daisies and roses decorated the house. Each guest carried home a piece of the wedding cake which was decorated in pink and white.
Mrs. Harder is a graduate of the Columbia School of Music of Chicago and has been the music supervisor in Calumet City at Lincoln school. Mr. Harder is employed in Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Harder left for a motor trip through the eastern states and Canada. The guests from this vicinity included Mr. and Mrs. Charles Taylor and daughter, Lyrrell, Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Pixley and Mrs. J. Kalembia and daughter Helen of Lowell, and Mrs. Obadiah Vinnedge and daughters, Ethel and Helen Claire, of Creston.
* NOTE -- The maton of honor (MaeBelle Meyer) and her daughter (Marjorie Beth Meyers) have a slightly different spelling of their last name (Meyer/Meyers) in this article. Another article, Mrs. Meyer's wedding announcement, spelled the name as "Meyer."
