Baskets of flowers and bridal wreaths made attractive decorations in the spacious social room of the church and the anniversary colors were carried out in the beautifully appointed tea table centered with a tiered wedding cake surrounded by an arrangement of flowers and crystal candelabra holding golden tapers.
For her golden wedding day Mrs. Hayden chose a gown of _____ blue nylon with which she wore blue slippers, gold jewelry and a corsage of yellow rosebuds.
Miss Edith Hayden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Hayden and Bert C. Hayden of Grant Park, Ill., were united in marriage at the rectory of Grace Methodist church, Chicago, on May 2, 1906, with Rev. John Thompson officiating.
Life-long residents of this area, they were educated in the community schools. Mrs. Hayden also attended Valparaiso University and taught in the West Creek township schools for several years.
Both are members of the First Methodist church. Mrs. Hayden also holds membership in the W.S.C.S. Lowell Senior Home Demonstration club and the Country Dinner Party club.
Friends and relatives alternating at the refreshment table, gift table and guest book while Mr. and Mrs. Hayden greeted their 200 guests were Mrs. Murray Hayden, Mrs. Donald Clark, Mrs. Amos Brannon, Mrs. ____vin Brown, Mrs. Arthur Edmondson, Mrs. Esther Starr, Mrs. Roy Pattee, Mrs. George Clark, Mrs. Sherrill Hayden, Mrs. Forest Herz and the Misses Janet Clark, Judy Coloney of Lowell and Cerilla, Marie and Georgia Saylor of Crown Point.
Among the array of lovely gifts received were flowers, cards and a gift of cash.
Women of the W.S.C.S. were pleasing hostesses for the golden event.
Out-of-town guests came from New Carlisle, Westville, Hebron, Crown Point, LaPorte, Milford, Valparaiso, Cedar Lake and Griffith; also Palos Park, Rockford, Western Springs, Lansing, Grant Park, Momence, Villa Park, Lombard, Joliet, Wyoming and Chicago, Ill.
Relatives, friends and neighbors who helped make the day one long to be remembered are the recipients of Mr. and Mrs. Hayden’s thanks.
