Mrs. Heighway was born west of Lowell on the farm where her brother, Ernest Van Alstine, 84, still resides.
She was an accomplished pianist and music teacher. The Heighways lived in Lowell, where he was superintendent of Lowell schools, until he accepted the post of county superintendent of schools. Mrs. Heighway always served as her husband’s assistant. He died in 1922.
A daughter, Mrs. O.E. Peterson of Crown Point, survives.
Rev. Thomas Adkins of the First Presbyterian church, officiated at private rites held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (yesterday), in the Miriam funeral home, Crown Point. Interment was in Maplewood cemetery.
